Ply-Fi is a one-person workshop based in Barry, South Wales, making architectural speaker stands for serious listeners. Every pair is hand-finished by me, designed to give high-end monitors the foundation they deserve and to look at home in a room you actually care about.
The idea is simple: audio equipment should be as much a piece of furniture as it is a performance upgrade. Most stands on the market are either industrial metal structures or flat-pack afterthoughts. Ply-Fi exists in the space between, refined, honest, and built to last.
The Philosophy
I make a good, honest product. By working on a small, focused scale I can justify the use of high-quality materials and intensive hand-finishing, creating bench-made furniture where the cost is reflected entirely in the craftsmanship. No shortcuts. No compromises.
Ply-Fi is also about making things that larger companies can't or won't, products that are too labour-intensive, too considered, or too niche to survive a factory floor. That's exactly where I want to be.
The Materials
The core is premium Baltic birch plywood, chosen for its natural damping qualities, structural integrity, and the honesty of its grain. Tops are finished in industrial high-pressure laminates sourced from local specialists.
Every signature Ply-Fi edge is hand-sanded through a meticulous four-stage process before being sealed with three coats of Osmo Polyx Oil, producing a tactile satin finish that mass production simply cannot replicate.
The Range
What started as a single model has grown into a considered family of stands, each designed for different monitors, room sizes, and listening setups. New models are added as the workshop develops, always limited run, always hand-finished, always made to order.
